6 Months

Oh my Owie, you are growing so fast, so very fast. Half a year already, growing up, eating real food! You love crackers and baby biter bisquits, but boy are they messy. We're working on the cereal but I can't say you love it.

You are sitting better but you still need a pillow behind you or you will fly backwards and whack your head on the floor. Hard. Poor guy. You just get so excited and forget you can't balance and whoosh, you are down for the count. Your whole body goes rigid and you just lie there staring at the ceiling with this look on your face like "What in the world?!"

You are still my crabby guy but I love you. We're working on it, but you are a tough cookie. You just love to be with your mama. Plus I think you are frustrated that you can't crawl yet. You hate the lack of variety. You love to be carried around and see all the cool new things. And of course snuggle with your mama too!

You make a dadaddadadada noise now and your dada is over the moon about that!

You are one lucky little boy, your first Thanksgiving and you get to spend it at a posh resort in Key Largo. Kids never had it so good! It was tons of fun. People travel around the property in golf carts so that's what we did too. I'd strap you in the Bjorn or one of my slings and off we'd go. I'm still not sure about the safety of it all, but thankfully we were just fine. We tried the sand but you just kept trying to eat it so you didn't get much quality beach time. Maybe next time!

The best entertainment in your book is other kids. No one, and I mean no one not even me, make syou as happy as Alec. You see him and immediately start to laugh. He'll make a funny noise and you will just crack up - you make this funny high pitched squeal laugh just for him. The two of you are just so cute together and I think it makes him feel very special that he can make you laugh like no one else can.

If I walk away from you, you put your arms up and follow me with your eyes and your unh unh sounds. I know as soon as you can crawl you will just follow me!

You rock back and forth a lot, just sort of bobbing along. You love music and I swear you are trying to dance.

Your fangs are coming in. Boy do you have a mouthful of teeth for a 6 month old! Your top 4 and your bottom 4 all popping through. No wonder you have been the crabbiest. And I really should stop calling you crabby. Yes, you are crabby and fussy at times, but you are also charming and sweet and shy and silly.

You crack me up the way you take a cracker in your hand. When I offer it to you, you stop, stare at it, consider it, open and close your hand a few times then slowly reach for it. Then you pick it up, look at it in your hand and then slowly pull it toward your mouth. Then you have an expression sort of like "What is this and why oh why am i eating it?"

Watching you watch things is very cool. Like our neighbor's cat. You get totally still and just watch the cat slowly walk by you. And then, you start bobbing up and down and squeal and get so excited. I love watching you learn about the world. It sounds trite and silly, but you really are full of wonder.

You are a mama's boy. I tried to go our for a mom's night out Christmas party and you were not happy! Your dad was supposed to watch you but he had to work late so Grammy and Pa came over to watch you and Alec. I got a phone call around 9 saying you were inconsolable. I gave a few tip suggestions and then 20 minutes later I got a call saying you had finally passed out. When I came home a little later it really looked like you had worn Grammy and Pa out - you sure are stubborn!

You sat with Santa, no problem. I was a bit surprised b/c you aren't really a fan of strangers holding you but you were great. Maybe becasue Alec was up there with you or you were just fascinated by Sant and his beard I don't know. But you didn't cry so that was good!

You love bagels. Love them. You are all about the carbs. As soon as you see the bagel you start making your hunh hunh noises - you just can't wait! You just sort of gnaw on a big chunk of it and it disintegrates in your mouth over time. Sometimes you pull a squirrel on us though and hoard a lot of bread in your mouth. Silly boy.

You are making more and more noises. I need to get them on film. Now there is an open mouth "aaaawwwck" type noise, usually when you are wanting to be very expressive about something or very excited.

So we went to Pennsylvania for Christmas and you were actually very good on the plane. I think you being older wa sa big deal, you didn't have as hard a time falling asleep and settling in this time thank goodness - that last time was tough!

For some unknown reason you have started yelling at us. Like actually yelling. You are so angry! It's not crying, but rather short bursts of yelling. So angry! It seems to have passed, but it was very wierd.

You had a very nice first Christmas Owie. Totally spoiled by your grandparents in PA. And they would have bought you more if I didn't reign them in. You have so many toys, and you know what, you'd take a remote control or an old magazine to rip up over a toy anyway!

Happy 1st Christmas baby!
