4 Months
Oh my Owie, I have lost track of this journal. I've tried to jot down some things here and there but life has been insane. Let me see, we moved to Florida, evacuated for 2 hurricanes, moved in to our new home and had to wait a month to get internet hookup because of the hurricanes. Good grief.
So now, now Owie, you are so big and changing every day. Let me tell you about your 4 month old self, even as I write this you are 5.5 months old and I can't believe how time has flown - thankfully I took good notes, I hope!
You've started to put your foot or both feet up in the air when you are lying on your back. I think those feet will be going in your mouth very soon!
You grunt - loudly! Alec used to grunt all night long in his sleep, you on the other hand prefer to do it while nursing. Slightly disturbing.
I love your open mouth babble. It amazes me and makes me smile whenever you do it. You'll be lying on your back and you'll just open your mouth and all these sounds will come out, sort of low sounds that grow to a higher pitch of excitement - I love that it has variables in the sound, just like converstaion.
You have discovered TV. Specifically Bob the Builder, no surprise since that is on all the time in our house. It's gotten to the point that you like the Bob the Builder theme song sung to you. You happily lie on the floor in your boppy and Alec rests his head on the outside. Sweet boys.
You are so alert and aware. paying attention to everything around you. Nothing escapes you. You are starting to reach fro everything now too - look out! But you especially love to be facing out in the Bjorn, seeing everyone, taking it all in. And you love the ladies. All the Florida grandmas all come up to you when we are out shopping and ew and ah ove ryou and you flash your long lashes and give them your shy smile and they all melt.
You are killing me. You are up more and nursing more at night than you did as a newborn. You were such a sleepy newborn you totally faked me out - I thought I'd finally gotten a sleeper. But no, you love the midnight snacking. *sigh*
You are a mama's boy. All you want is your mama. You can be screaming hysterically in your dad's arms - while he is walking and patting and loving you - but still you are hysterical. I take you into my arms and silence. While it is frustrating at times that no one else can comfort you, it secretly warms my heart.
You rolled over Owen! Every once in awhile you do it and boy does it make you mad! I am sure you'll figure out it's really a good thing soon enough.
You don't crawl and you don;t really scooch, but somehow you can rotate yourself around while on your back, I still haven't quite figured out what you are doing yet, but you often end up in a very different position than the one I originally put you in.
You are all boy. You love to have your diaper changed and just love getting wiped, you laugh and laugh like it is the funniest thing ever. Cracks me up everytime.
You found them, you are eating your toes like mad. You find them all the time, easily now and off they go right into your mouth. Usually accompanied by some sor tof "aaahnnnnnhhhh" sound.
When you are happy there is nothing in the world like your smile. It lights up your whole face and gives you a sort of surprised look. I love to zerbert your belly or play peek a boo with you because you get so happy/surprised by it all. And then the giggles come - you have the most infectious laugh.
Your eyelashes are so long, they almost reach your eyebrows. I am in awe of them and o' so jealous. They even have split ends on them they are so long!
Your babble noises are getting longer and longer.
You make a funny inquisitive face when you see something new.
Oh Owie, you had your first plane trip to PA to see Mimi and Grandad Jack, or as Alec calls him, Granjack. It was rough. You just could not fall asleep on the plane rides and had quite a few crying jags. The only thing that saved us on our last leg was Alec's lollipop. Yes, I gave my 4 month old baby a lollipop to keep him quiet on a plane ride. I am going to bad mommy-hell.
We went to a pumpkin patch while we were in PA and I had wanted to get a pumpkin picture of you like I have of Alec, but it was so bitter cold. Just too damp and windy for my little guy to be out sitting on pumpkins. Definitley next year, major pumpkin picture time!
You had some rough car spells too while we were visiting, I don't know what it is Owen, you just do not like the car. You like to be held. Sorry bud, you were born in the wrong era, you should have been around 2 generations ago before all these carseat rules! I wish I could hold you I really do.
You have this great angry cry that sounds like "ning ning, ning ninnnnnnnnng"
