11 Months

Here you are Owen, almost 1 year old - I can not believe it! Life before you seems a million miles away, hard to imagine you not in my life. Sweetest boy.

You are a silly one. You crack me up when you crawl into my bed and fling yourself back on the pillows like you are just exhausted by the effort of life and you must relax. You know you are being silly and shoot me your under the eyelid look. I could just eat you up.

You are walking Ow-ee! Taking a step here and there and really trying. But on Mother's day you said, no more crawling for me! And no matter how many times you fall you just get right back up and walk some more.

You love to give me zerberts on my big old belly.

You are so silly, I love to just lie down with you and make silly faces and tickle you and have a good old Ow-ee laugh fest.

You remain infatuated with birds. You think they are so cool and now you say "buh" when you see them. That is our big distraction tool too - if you are melting all you have to do is say "Ow-ee where the birdies?" And you stop fussing and start looking around in the sky for birds.

You point at things now.

You are all about your dada. You say dada and run to him when he comes in the door at night. I am still waiting for you to call me mama :(

We went to Orlando for a quick Disney vacation at Animal Kingdom. At our hotel you loved the baby pool and just waddled around it like you were king of the world. Pretty amazing considering you really just started walking the week before - it is not easy to walk in water! You got so many comments from other parents about your fearlessness. All the other babies were hanging on the edge close to their parents, but not you. You were off walking proudly through the pool, chasing a beach ball that was just too big for you to get your little arms around.

You have this sad (almost fake) cry. You purse your lips open like a fish and this sad "O" whine cry sound comes out before you start a real cry. I just have to laugh.

You are not a fan of the crib. I ask you if you want to go in it and I get the sad O-wee cry.

You say "uh-oh" if you drop something. So cute.

You love Veggie Booty. I swear it is baby crack. If you see the bag you start flipping out and going "unh unh unh" and pointing towards it with your chest sticking out at it as well. Crazy!

You love to build with blocks or stacking buckets.

You like to put toys inside containers or other toys.

You love to be fed - we call it eating like a bird when we feed you food (like booty!) with our hands. So silly.

You can roll the ball.

You like to "beep" your dad's nose and you like the stick your fingers in my mouth.

You love the song Itsy Bitsy Spider and you put your arms above your head to do the hand motions as soon as I start singing it.

You are a monkey child. You climbed onto one of the kitchen chairs and you probably would have gone for the kitchen table had I not grabbed you. You like to climb into the laundry basket, especially when it is full of clothes! You especially love to ride on top of the laundry to and from the laundry room - you are getting heavy for me to keep doing this though!

I bought you one of those plastic slide climber combos at a garage sale and you just love it. Alec does too and there are some fights but mostly you guys do very well on it together. You mastered it far sooner and better than I thought you would - you can even climb up the slide!
