28 Months
The other day you told me "Maybe when I grow up, I be big like elephant!"
We went to NYC because your dad had a business meeting and you just love the "big city" as you call it. You get so excited about the fire trucks and the worker trucks. We had a great time in the city while dad was at his meeting - walked all around, went to Times Square (where you didn't want to go see "that big T-Rex because he scare me") up to Central Park with a stop at my favorite 5th Avenue Baby Gap on the way. You had a great time playing with your worker trucks in the dirt at the park while I hang out and nursed Owen. Then we met Becky for lunch and you slept the whole time - which was good since Owen was ultra fussy!
We went to Mimi's for Owen's baptism and you had the best time (as always!). A friend of hers bought you some played and you just went to town with it, imagining all sort do worker site things with it - you built roads, made boulders, built girders and beams. You are definitely going to be a workerman when you grow up. As you say "When I grow up, I will drive the backhoe, and you will drive the dump truck mama."
You told your dad "Dada, you the best dada."
You are obsessed with seeing what color "poo" you made. As if diaper changing wasn't gross enough.
You ask for "one left one" story please mama.
You have turned your play kitchen into a workerman site. You stand on a stool and hammer the top of the kitchen and pretend it is your "tall building."
We were going to Wegmans to have dinner with Linnie and Clio and you asked if Kina-Bina would be there and I reminded you that she had moved back to Brazil. You got really sad and said "I miss Kina-Bina, I can't find her anywhere!" Made me want to cry.
Sometimes you can be so affectionate Alec, it makes me so happy when you just run up and give hugs and kisses, telling me I the best mama. I love your "eskinose" kisses the best.
You wanted a popsicle and told me you needed one "because it make me grow big and strong."
You have good manners but you tend to whine "pease pease pease pease" when you want something. So does not help your cause.
Despite being a huge tough kid, you are so gentle with Owen it makes me proud. You really do love him and sometimes out of the blue just say "I love my baby brother."
The question stage has started "What's that? What you doing?" I think this will be a long lived phase.
Unfortunately one of your favorite questions is "Are we there?" Can drive me and your dad crazy in the car!! Every two seconds, "are we there are we there?"
You love your yellow construction workerman hard hat. You tell me "this workerman hat is special to me" However, that is usually a catch phrase that means "I am not going to share this. Ever. With anyone."
You love to have us tell you stories, especially about things we have done together - to the castle park, when mama went to the hospital, to the fire station, to Thomas, etc. You can even tell them yourself pretty well!
You are getting so tall! You almost don;t need the stepstool anymore to wash your hands at the sink - one of your favorite things to do.
Ugh, you are going through this defiant stage. I can;t stand it. If I hear "No, I don;t want to"{ one more time I think I may scream. We've al had many clashes of wills lately. Especially about bedtime. We've started setting a timer and that is helping somewhat, you even ask us to set your timer now. Thank goodness we've found something to help!
You are getting excited for our move. You like to talk about the workermen in FLorida who are building our new house and about the workermen who will come on the truck and move all of our stuff. I know you don;t really grasp it, but I think at least some of it sinks in and hopefully that will make all the adjustment of the next few months easier.
The other day you told me "When I grow up I will have nursie babies like you and I can nurse my baby brother!" Um, sorry bud, not going to happen!
When Owen gets fussy you will run to him and say "Don't cry Owie, don't cry, I'm here." or "It's OK owie, it's OK." or "What is it Owie? What is it now?" Sometimes you even sing a song to him, or rather scream one at the top of your lungs! Usually Old MacDOnald had a Farm or Rockabye baby.
In the car the other day Owen started to fuss and you told him "Don't worry we're almost there." Sweet boy.
We went to Taughannock park with Linnie and Clio and you and CLio had the best time on the lake shore making "rock angels" - like snow angles but on the rocky beach. It really was sweet and it made me sad that we were leaving, Clio is your good childhood friend, we're going to miss her!
